SCANNING SERVICES INFORMATION

We offer several scanning options;

Auto-Feed of Small Documents (black and white only)

For small documents that can be fed through a sheet feeder, such as loose sheets or pages from a 3-ring binder, we can quickly create a PDF or TIFF file for you, and copy it to your USB drive or compact disk or even email it to you.  PDF (Portable Document Format) files are readable with Adobe Reader, Word, and many other software packages.  TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) file are in graphic formats which you can use with PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator, and other graphics software.

Cost: $5.95 for setup and transfer of up to 25 pages to USB drive, compact disk, or email.  If the document must be split up into more than one file in order to be small enough to email, additional labor charges apply, based on $12.50 per 15-minute period, 15-minute minimum.

Do-It-Yourself (color or black and white)

You may rent our public computer and scanner for $12.00/hour (15-minute minimum) in order to scan your documents yourself and transfer them to CD, USB drive, or email.  The computer offers OpenOffice and Windows scanning software.  Black-and-white prints from the computer are 25¢ each. 

Technical assistance is available for $12.50 per 15-minute period, 15-minute minimum.  Appointments are highly recommended, and assistance is subject to the availability of our techs.

Larger or More Complex Jobs (color or black and white)

We can scan:
  Single- or double-sided documents
  Art work including paintings, prints, and drawings.
  Photographs, posters, and maps
  Documents up to 11x17” in size.  Larger sizes may also be scannable.
  Black-and-white, grayscale, or color -- for both originals and scanned files
  Entire books

Post-scanning services include:
  Restoration of photos and documents
  Uploading to online private or public photo galleries
  Creation of photo galleries onto DVDs, CDs
  Optical character recognition (OCR), either uncorrected or edited/corrected
  Creation of Portable Document Files (PDFs) with indexes
  Conversion of images into a variety of image formats including JPG, TIF, EPS, PNG, and PDF
  Image processing, editing, and correction
  Delivery via email, compact disc (CD), USB or thumb drive, or File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

We can save and back up scanned files; fees will apply.  Otherwise, all files generated will be given to the customer.  NO files will be retained by Pak Mail unless other arrangements have been made.

Although every effort is made to complete small projects within 1 or 2 business days, we cannot guarantee that.  Larger projects will take longer, but we can provide an estimate when service is requested.
